An elegant social media presentation...with a touch of ass

Butts-in-seats

I'm so tickled that I get to work with clients who appreciate understated elegance.

Very understated.

I'm now re-writing/designing my presentation "Using Tweets to put butts in seats".

Version 2 promises to be even cheekier.

Also working on clarifying a few technical points:

  • It's pronounced #hashtag
  • Not #asstag (props to @stellafly
Clients & chums routinely "crack" me up. Looking forward to meeting a groovy business audience...

Celebrating My Two Year Twitterversary...

Tomorrow marks my two year Twitterversary. That's right, I've been Tweeting away for over 2 years now.

The question I often get: "What do you get out of it?"

(Twitter chum @DR1665 answers this question nicely in his post, "What has Twitter Done For You?")

I'll add my comments the mix:

I started Twitter as an experiment two years ago. (You can read about my first impressions here.)

Tweetup

I didn't have many expectations about Twitter two years ago.

Since then, I have made real-world connections with people who I initially met on Twitter. Some of these have led to consulting assignments and speaking engagements. Others have become connections, friends, and people to share coffee or lunch. Others are people-who-are-far-away, so we simply share ideas and good vibes over the web.

Still others are quiet types, who seem happy to listen.

Some Twitter folks I've met are noisy and persistently pushy, so I tend to weed and prune my Twitter garden of some of these weeds.

It's pretty much all good.

Mostly, I enjoy sharing ideas with my friends on Twitter, and I hope you enjoy my little Tweets, too.

So let me ask you this: what do you get out of Twitter?

ps -- A few weeks ago, Twitter pal @BobonBusiness asked if anyone knew any restaurants that use Twitter effectively. I can now point him to @The_WaterShed -- the bar that sponsored the second Mid-Michigan Tweetup. (I was also at the first one -- last year.) The bar manager was groovy enough to put up welcome signs (above) for us Twitter folks. Some other plucky employee made sure the stalls in the ladies' room contained a compelling message, as well (see below).

Bathroom-wall

And to top it all off, half-price on all bottles of wine, $1 off drafts, and a lovely spread of munchies -- complete with birthday cake. Now that's making a bar business social media friendly! Thanks to the staff at the WaterShed for hosting the hijinx! Great turnout, and enjoyed meeting & tweeting with fun Lansing area folks!
